Sandilands beach – 5 Mins Walk
Nicholson’s Strand at Sandilands is a long sandy beach ideal for nature-lovers seeking peace and quiet. Dogs are allowed and swimming is possible. The water quality is excellent. The Blue Flag Cranfield Beach is only a mile further along the coast and is well suited for water-based activities, enjoying lifeguard supervision daily through the summer months and at weekends in September.
Murlough Nature Reserve
Murlough National Nature Reserve is a fragile 6000 year old sand dune system owned by the National Trust and managed as Ireland’s first Nature Reserve since 1967. It is an excellent area for walking and bird watching due to its spectacular location at the edge of Dundrum Bay and the Mourne Mountains.
